The American Silver Eagle is the most iconic modern silver coin from the United States Mint. Introduced in 1986 with BU and Proof specimens, these coins have been available to investors and collectors ever since, with only the 2009 date mark missing in the Proof Silver Eagle range. All coins in this series share the same obverse design, that of Wallking Liberty from the iconic 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design, which graced the half-dollar coin from 1916 to 1947, drew inspiration from classical representations of liberty in motion, particularly the French “Sower” design by Oscar Roty that appeared on French coins. Weinman, a German-born American sculptor trained under Augustus Saint-Gaudens, created an image of Liberty draped in the American flag, striding confidently toward the dawn with outstretched arm, symbolizing the nation’s forward progress.
All 2013-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins offered here come in PR69 condition. These coins are near-perfect specimens with full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detractions. Examples of acceptable flaws include minuscule contact marks or hairlines that must be outside the primary focal points. DCAM stands for deep-cameo proof and refers to the presence of strong, frosted designs overlaying a deeply-mirrored, clear field.
