Edith was friends with Theodore Roosevelt from a young age. As a child, she lived near New York’s Union Square and often visited Teddy’s grandparents’ home. There, she became close with both Theodore and his sister Corrine. Years later, after his first wife Alice passed away, Teddy and Edith rekindled their relationship. They married in 1886 and remained together until Theodore’s death in 1919. Edith lived out her final years in Long Island before passing in 1948.
