These 2013 Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins have an MS69 grade from the NGC. Coins with this grade still feature their full, original luster and a sharp, attractive strike for the date and mint. You may see as many as two miniscule contact marks on the coin’s surface, but they are not visible without magnification and are not within the primary focal areas.
The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf was introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1988. Each year the standard version of the coin is struck in a one troy ounce weight. The designs featured on the obverse and reverse sides of the coin have remained consistent throughout its production run. On one side, the image of a sugar maple leaf as created by the RCM engravers. Queen Elizabeth II’s image is featured on the obverse side of the vast majority of Canadian coins. Her latest portrait was designed by Susanna Blunt.
Blunt’s right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse side of these coins, and is surrounded by the engravings “Elizabeth II,” the year of minting, and the coin’s face value. The reverse side of the coin bears the image of a lone maple leaf, with engravings that include “Canada,” and the coin’s weight, purity, and metal content.
The Royal Canadian Mint was founded in 1908 to refine the gold, silver, and precious metals found in the Yukon Territories in the late 19th century. Today the Mint is recognized around the globe as one of the finest, most advanced facilities. The RCM consists of two production facilities in Ottawa and Winnipeg.
