The obverse side of the 2013 Australian Silver Lunar Snake Coin features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is seen in right-profile relief, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, as identifying marks of the coin surround her.
The reverse side of the 2013 5 oz Australian Lunar Snake Coin showcases a lunar snake design. The snake is seen slithering around a branch. On the right side of the design, we can see the “P” mint mark for the Perth Mint, as well as the traditional Chinese character for the snake.
Each 2013 5 oz Australian Silver Lunar Snake Coin will arrive inside a protective plastic flip. These coins are part of the well-known Perth Mint Lunar Series of silver coins.
The Lunar Series from Perth Mint was introduced back in 1996, but just for gold coins. Silver coins debuted a few years later in 1999. In 2008, when the Year of the Rat returned, the Perth Mint welcomed Lunar Series II, followed by Lunar Series III in 2020.
