This coin was the third coin released in 2013 as part of the America the Beautiful coin series. Each year the United States Mint releases five new coins as part of the program to honor each of the nations states, territories, and its lone federal district. The coin program will eventually consist of 56 coins.
On the reverse side of the coin, the twisted trunk of a bristlecone pine is visible on a rocky basin. Engravings include Nevada, Great Basin, and E Pluribus Unum. The obverse is graced by President George Washingtons left-profile, as refined for use on coins in 1932 by John Flanagan.
