To commemorate its anniversary in 2013, the Royal Canadian Mint released this 25th Anniversary Canadian Maple Leaf Coin. This particular maple leaf coin was one of only 9,999 to be minted that year, making it among one of the rarer maple leaf coins. Each maple leaf coin has been minted from 1 troy ounce of the purest .9999 fine silver. Individual coins measure 38 mm in diameter and 3.29 mm in width.
The maple leaf coins included in this selection were carefully inspected by the NGC (Numismatic Gauranty Corporation) and designated with an MS68 (Mint State 68) grade. This particular grade is characterized by the absence of any hairline marks. However, up to four contact marks may appear on several of the secondary focal points. To prevent any deterioration or damage, all coins have been individually kept in their original NGC certified slabs.
For the artwork of this special anniversary edition maple leaf coin, a large number “25” was added to the central maple leaf design. Although partially obscured, the maple leaf still maintains its high level of detail. Minute design elements such as the pattern of its netted veins are still visible on the leaf points that overlap with the number. Circling the anniversary logo are the words “Canada” as well as the weight and purity of each coin. The design of the reverse side of the coin remains the same in honor of Canada’s ongoing devotion to Queen Elizabeth II. Her effigy is prominently displayed across the center of the coin, portraying her in all her royal splendor. Inscribed above the portrait is her name, while the coin’s denomination appears beneath her.
