Introduced in 1979, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is one of the oldest gold bullion coins available to private gold buyers. As of 2014, the Gold Maple Leaf program offers six weights to investors, with the 1/20 oz gold coin among those options. First offered in 1993, the 2013 issue marks the 20th release of the 1/20 oz Gold Maple Leaf. Today, 2013 1/20 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins are available from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Today’s maple leaf symbolizes Canadian unity, environmental stewardship, and multicultural identity, appearing on the national flag since 1965 and countless government emblems. The eleven-pointed stylized red maple leaf has transcended its botanical origins to become one of the world’s most recognizable national symbols, representing Canada’s natural heritage and peaceful character.
All 2013 1/20 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins available here come in protective plastic flips. The 1/20 oz Gold Maple Leaf was introduced to the program in 1993, making it the fifth option available following the 1 oz coin (1979), 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins (1982), and the 1/2 oz coin (1986).
On the obverse of 2013 Canadian Gold Maple Leafs, you’ll find an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in the longest-running Canadian portrait of her reign. Designed by Susanna Blunt, this right-profile effigy of Her Majesty without a crown was featured on Canadian coins for 19 years.
The reverse of the 2013 1/20 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coins comes with a depiction of the sugar maple leaf. Designed in 1979 by Walter Ott, this naturalistic depiction of the sugar maple leaf has featured on all versions of the Canadian Maple Leaf bullion series since its debut in 1979.
