Chaco Culture National Historical Park hosts the densest and exceptional concentration of pueblos (homes) in the southwestern reaches of America. The park covers 33,977 acres of land between Albuquerque and Farmington in northwestern New Mexico. Occupied heavily between 900 and 1150 AD, the region was a major cultural center for Pueblo people in the Chaco Canyon.
America the Beautiful coins feature a different image on each coin, representing a place or moment from American history from each state, territory, or district. The series was introduced in 2010 and features five new coins each year. In total, 56 coins are scheduled to be produced through the end of the program in 2021.
On the reverse side of each coin is the image of the quarries at Chaco Culture National Historical Park. Engravings on this side read “New Mexico,” “Chaco Culture,” and “E Pluribus Unum.” The obverse side of the coin features the left-profile image of President George Washington. His image was designed by John Flanagan in 1932, and is based upon a 1786 bust completed by William Cousins.
The United States Mint produces these coins with new coining press built in Germany and installed in Philadelphia. Each coin in this listing is available in near-perfect condition, with their full, original luster still visible. These coins may have a maximum of two blemishes, but none are located in the primary focal areas.
