Few coins produced by the Royal Canadian Mint generate the kind of interest and demand of the Canadian Maple Leaf, but the Canadian Wildlife Series of coins struck from 2011 to 2013 came close. The limited-time production of bullion coins featuring famous Canadian wildlife generated immense interest on behalf of both investors and collectors. Right now, the 2012 1 oz Canadian Silver Cougar Coin is available from JM Bullion in near-perfect condition.

- Face value of $5 (CAD) is fully backed by the government of Canada.
- Graded Mint State 69 by the NGC.
- Features the imposing image of a cougar.
Royal Canadian Mint Assistant Engraver William Woodruff was originally tasked with the creation of designs for the Canadian Wildlife Series. His designs were used on the first four coins in the series, from 2011 to 2012. Starting with the first coin in the 2013 release schedule, famed Canadian artist Emily Damstra took over to complete the series’ final two coins.
The 2012 1 oz Canadian Silver Cougar coin available to you today is in near-perfect condition according to the NGC. An MS69 coin has its full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws.
On the reverse is the image of a cougar, one of Canada’s deadliest predators as it prepares to pounce on its prey. The reverse face includes engravings that identify the nation of issue, the purity of the coin, its weight, and the metal content contained within.
The obverse features the image of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch in British history. Included along with Her Majesty’s effigy are engravings bearing her name, the year of issue, and the face value of the coin.
Royal Canadian Mint products are produced at one of the two facilities in the mint system. The original facility is located in the federal capital of Ottawa, while a secondary facility exists in the center of the country in Winnipeg.
