The United States Mint offers the American Silver Eagle coins in three different versions each year. Since 1986, the bullion and proof versions have been available in each year with the exception of 2009 for the proof coin. The Burnished American Silver Eagle has been available since 2006, with disruptions in 2009 and 2010. The 2011-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle coin is currently available to you with an NGC certification from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The 2011 release of the Burnished American Silver Eagle coin was prominent in the Silver Eagle series. First and foremost, the 2011 Burnished Silver Eagle was the first striking of the coin in two years. The 2009 and 2010 coins were canceled amid rising demand for silver bullion and the US Mint’s legal obligation to strike the bullion Silver Eagle to meet that demand.
This year also marked the 25th anniversary of the Silver Eagle collection, and two versions of the Burnished American Silver Eagle were issued to mark the occasion. The 2011-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle coin was struck as usual. An additional 99,882 Burnished Silver Eagle coins were struck for a 25th-anniversary set and featured an “S” mint mark from the San Francisco Mint.
On the obverse of 2011-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle coins is the image of Walking Liberty. Adolph A. Weinman originally created this design in 1916 as the US underwent redesigns for all of its circulation coins. Walking Liberty was the face of the US 50-cent piece from 1916 to 1947.
The reverse of the Burnished American Silver Eagle includes the heraldic eagle of the United States. Modernized for these coins in 1986 by John Mercanti, this design includes a bold, powerful eagle behind the US heraldic shield. It clutches arrows and an olive branch in its talons and has 13 stars arranged in a triangle over its head.
These 2011-W Burnished Silver Eagles are available here in perfect condition. The NGC certified these coins as Mint State 70 because they have full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws of any kind.
