As the America the Beautiful coin collection entered its second year, the beauty of America’s natural vistas continued to emerge in the series. Montana is represented in the ATB Series with visions of Glacier National Park along the US-Canada border. Right now, 2011-P 5 oz Burnished ATB Glacier Silver Coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Each of the 2011-P 5 oz Burnished ATB Glacier Silver Coins in this product listing comes with the original display box from the United States Mint. The Burnished Silver Coins from the US Mint include a Certificate of Authenticity.
The Burnished ATB Silver coins in this series are all produced at the Philadelphia Mint, as opposed to the West Point Mint which strikes the bullion versions of the coin. The burnished coins have a mint mark of “P” to identify the mint of origin. Burnished coins are visually different with a frosted, matte finish compared to the shinier finish of the bullion coins.
On the obverse of 2011-P Burnished ATB Glacier Silver Coins is the left-profile portrait of George Washington. This design was created back in 1932 for the circulation quarter to mark the 200th anniversary of Washington’s birth.
The reverse of 2011-P 5 oz Burnished ATB Glacier Silver Coins includes the design of a mountain goat resting on a ledge with Reynolds Mountain in the background. Reynolds Mountain has an elevation of 9,125 feet and is located on the Lewis Range and situated along the Continental Divide.
Glacier National Park covers 1 million acres of land in Montana and is set at the border of the state and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. The region was first inhabited by Native Americans, predominantly from the Blackfeet tribe. The region was established as a national park in May 1910.
