In the America the Beautiful Series, the United States Mint represents every individual jurisdiction within the nation that makes up its whole. This includes a silver bullion coin design for all 50 US states, the five overseas territories of the nation, and the federal district in Washington D.C.
A combined committee of citizen-artists and members of the Treasury Department selected the sites to represent each jurisdiction, as well as the designs reflecting those sites. The collection features five designs in each of the dates from 2010 to 2020, with one final design concluding the series in 2021.
On the obverse of 2011 5 oz ATB Olympic Silver Coins is an effigy of President George Washington. Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolution, Washington was later elected to two consecutive terms as the first-ever President of the United States of America. He is shown here in the left-profile portrait developed in 1932 by John Flanagan for use on the US quarter.
The reverse side of 2011 Burnished ATB Olympic Silver Coins includes a depiction of the natural wonders and wildlife of Olympic National Park. Representing Washington state in the series, this design shows a Roosevelt elk in the foreground near the banks of a river that trails off into the background toward the towering peak of Mount Olympus in the distance.
These 2011 5 oz Burnished ATB Olympic Silver Coins have near-perfect SP69 certifications. A unique certification from the PCGS, Specimen Proof refers to coins that have clean, matte visuals, but are not struck as traditional proofs. The SP69 designation identifies a coin that showcases full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor flaws. Those flaws are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines only and must be outside the primary focal points of the coin.
