The Canadian Wildlife Series was launched in 2011 with the Canadian Silver Wolf coin. Each of the coins in the six-coin series enjoyed immense success, due in large part to impressive designs and the standard use of .9999 pure silver at the Royal Canadian Mint. For those interested parties, the 2011 1 oz Canadian Silver Wolf Coin is currently available with NGC certification through JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Canadian Wildlife Series coins were popular with investors and collectors alike from the moment they were released by the Royal Canadian Mint. Each coin in the series had a limited mintage and one-time design never repeated by the RCM, giving collector’s a reason to covet the coins. The .9999 purity of the silver and that limited mintage also made them valuable to investors.
The 2011 1 oz Canadian Silver Wolf Coins available in this listing have a grade of MS68 courtesy of the NGC. Coins in this condition have an attractive strike, full mint luster, and no more than four scattered contact marks or flaws. Each of these flaws is considered miniscule, and none are found in the primary focal areas of the coin.
On the reverse face of the 2011 Canadian Silver Wolf is the oversized image of a lone wolf. The creature dominates the design from William Woodruff, Royal Canadian Mint Assistant Engraver. Its ears touch the moon in the sky, while the coniferous forest at its feet appears as just twigs compared to the wolf itself.
The obverse bears the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s right-profile portrait was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt, and is encircled by engravings that include her name, the year of issue, and face value of the coin.
The Royal Canadian Mint was founded in 1908 in Ottawa. It expanded for the first time in the 1980s with the completion of a second facility in Winnipeg.
