For most releases of the American Gold Eagle Series, the 1/4 oz gold BU coin is the lowest minted in the series. In the 2010s, the demand for the coins in the American Gold Eagle Series would ebb and flow every few years, but overall, the demand was steadily higher than in the previous decade as rounds of economic and political uncertainty drove demand for gold and other safe-haven metals. Now, 2011 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.

In 2011, the United States Mint celebrated the 25th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle. The gold coins debuted in 1986 and the BU versions of the coin, including these 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles, have been issued each year as the mint is required to do so under the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985.
The 2011 release of American Gold Eagles saw demand drop across the board for each of the four coins in the series. This was a rarity given the fact that anniversary years tend to attract more interest in the coins. While the demand for the coins was down, overall mintages remained higher through 2017 than the series had experienced throughout the 2000s.
The obverse side of 2011 American Gold Eagles features a depiction of Lady Liberty. Created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this historic vision shows Liberty’s full-length figure in front-facing relief as she walks toward the viewer holding up a torch in her right hand. As she walks away from the U.S. Capitol Building, you will also notice an olive branch in her left hand. The field also includes sun rays in the background and a ring of 50 stars around the field.
On the reverse face of 2011 1/4 oz Gold Eagles is the image of an American bald eagle family. Created for this series in 1986 by Miley Busiek, this distinctive visual shows a large family nest with a female eagle and young hatchlings within. Overhead, a male eagle soars above the nest.
These 2011 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles are available with protective flips for shipping. The mintage of 80,000 coins in 2011 was down 6,000 coins from 2010 and 24,000 coins from 2009, but was still well above the 2008 release and was some 2.5 times higher than the record low from 2007.
