Investors and collectors across North America have long focused on the Canadian Maple Leaf and American Eagle coin series, but a new competitor is garnering attention. The Mexican Gold Libertad bears inspirational designs and high quality production that makes it a must-have for serious coin collectors and precious metal investors. You can now obtain a 2011 1/10 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coin from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
The Mexican Gold Libertad coin is the direct successor to the historic gold Centenario coin. The Centenario was struck starting in the 1920s to celebrate 100 years of freedom from Spanish rule. The coin was struck featuring Winged Victory on the obverse, and the nation’s coat of arms (at the time) on the reverse. Modern Mexican Gold Libertad Coins were first struck in 1981, and have been produced annually since 2002.
After a one-year production run in 1981 that featured a 1 oz, ½ oz, and ¼ oz bullion coin, the first 1/10 oz coin was struck in 1991. This full series was struck until 1994, and picked up again for annual production in 2002.
On the obverse side of each of these coins you’ll find the image of Winged Victory in the center. Known as the angel of independence, she is representative of the nation’s successful struggle to break free from Spanish colonization.
The reverse side of each 2011 1/10 oz Mexican Gold Libertad coin bears the modern coat of arms, which depicts a bald eagle as it does battle with a serpent. A wreath surrounds the seal around the bottom, while “Estados Unidos Mexicanos” is engraved above.
The Mexican Mint was founded in 1535 and is the oldest facility still in operation in the Western world. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to a JM Bullion associate at 800-276-6508.
