Each coin contains 1/4 troy ounce of pure gold and has a Deep Cameo appearance. The American Gold Eagle coin has been in production since 1986 as the United States’ official gold coin. Each coin bears iconic images that represent the strong characteristics of the American people; power, freedom, and democracy. On one side is Lady Liberty, while the powerful bald eagle is featured on the other.

A total of 44,507 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles were struck this year. The 2010 coins also marked the return of American Gold Eagle proofs following suspension of the proof and uncirculated programs in 2009.
Each of these 2010-W 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles has a “W” mint mark, identifying the coins as a product of the West Point Mint. The PR70 grade from the PCGS indicates that each coin is considered to be in perfect condition. DCAM, an abbreviation for “deep cameo,” refers to the clear and frosted design overlaid on a deeply mirrored.
On the reverse of the coin is a depiction of a family of eagles, with the male returning to the female and hatchling in the nest carrying an olive branch. Sculptor Miley Busiek created the design in 1986 for use on the American Gold Eagle. Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ depiction of Lady Liberty, designed in 1907, was chosen for the obverse side of the coin.
