The America the Beautiful Series of silver coins for sale launched at the United States Mint in 2010. The series offers five coin designs per year for a total of 56 planned throughout its 11-year run. The national parks and other monuments depicted for each state, territory, or district appear in the order in which each one was federally recognized and established. Today, 2010 5 oz ATB Grand Canyon Silver Coins are available in near-perfect condition online from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Arizona was one of three unique locations in the America the Beautiful Series in terms of its design choice and representative site. The previous State Quarters Program from the US Mint had used sites from across the nation to feature on the reverse of circulation quarters. Only Arizona, California, and Wyoming used the same site in the State Quarters Program for the ATB Series.
All 2010 5 oz ATB Grand Canyon Silver Coins in this product listing are available to you in near-perfect condition. A Mint State 69 coin has full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws must be located outside the primary focal points of the coin and are limited to minuscule contact marks and hairlines only.
On the obverse side of the 2010 5 oz ATB Grand Canyon Silver Coin is the image of President George Washington. The first Commander-in-Chief, Washington was a guiding force for the Continental Army and helped steer the nation through the difficult post-war years as it sought to establish a democratic form of federal government. He has appeared on the obverse of the US quarter since 1932.
The reverse of 2010 5 oz ATB Grand Canyon Silver Coins bears the image of Marble Canyon. The location known as Marble Canyon stretches from Lee’s Ferry in northern Arizona to the confluence of the Little Colorado River and marks the official start of the Grand Canyon.
Grand Canyon National Park was established as protected land starting in 1893. As with many older sites in the US National Park system, the Grand Canyon was initially a protected monument and would have to wait until 1919 to gain full status as a National Park. Today’s park covers an area of more than 1.2 million acres in total.
