These coins have been issued annually since they debuted in 2006. BU Coins are issued solely in a 1 oz weight. In 2008, proof and burnished strikes were also issued in three fractional weights (1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz) for one year only.
Each 2008-W 1/4 oz Burnished American Gold Buffalo Coin will arrive inside a protective plastic slab from the NGC. The reverse of the 2008-W 1/4 oz Burnished American Buffalo Coin showcases an American bison. The animal is seen in left-profile relief standing on a mound. Also designed by Fraser, identifying marks of the coin frame the overall design.
