Each 2008 1 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coin is available to you with an individual plastic flip. These coins were issued for the 20th time in 2008, but the 2008 release of Gold Philharmonics was largely overshadowed by the debut of a new option in the series. 2008 marked the first release of 1 oz Austrian Silver Philharmonic Coins.
Despite the arrival of the silver bullion version of the coin, the 2008 Austrian Gold Philharmonic remained popular among its devoted base of gold bullion investors. The mintage of 715,842 coins in 2008 was the highest the series had seen to date and surpassed the next closest issue, to date, by almost 80,000 coins.
The obverse side of 2008 Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coin comes with a depiction of the Great Pipe Organ. This musical instrument is permanently installed within the Musikverein, the concert hall where the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performs when it is in the capital city of Vienna. The Great Pipe Organ is the third such organ installed in the concert hall following its completion in the 1870s.
On the reverse face of the 2008 1 oz Gold Philharmonic, you will find an image of musical instruments. This depiction shows a cluster of instruments centered on a large cello. This is flanked on each side by two violins, with a bassoon, a harp, and a French horn in the background field.
