The United States Mint introduced the American Platinum Eagle in 1997 with bullion and proof versions of the coin. When the mint introduced Burnished Eagles in the Gold Eagle and Silver Eagle collections, it also offered a burnished coin in the Platinum Eagle Series for a brief period of time. Today, 2007-W 1 oz Burnished American Platinum Eagle Coins are available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
From 2006 to 2008, the US Mint featured three unique designs on the reverse of Proof Platinum Eagles and Burnished Platinum Eagles. Known as the Foundations of Democracy Series, this collection of designs celebrated the three branches of the American federal system: Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. The 2007 release celebrated the Executive Branch with a powerful American bald eagle symbol.
All 2007-W 1 oz Burnished American Platinum Eagle Coins offered here come in plastic capsules with a presentation box from the US Mint and a Certificate of Authenticity. The US Mint produces burnished coins through a unique process that starts with platinum coin blanks being polished in a drum with a burnishing medium that creates a distinct, matte finish on the product. The blanks are then individually struck in the coin press under intense pressure to create a clean design.
On the obverse of the 2007-W Burnished American Platinum Eagle is a portrait of the Statue of Liberty. This design was featured on the obverse of Platinum Eagles from 1997 to 2017, with US Mint Engraver John Mercanti creating this image of Lady Liberty’s face specifically for the Platinum Eagle Series.
The reverse side of 2007-W 1 oz Burnished Platinum Eagle Coins comes with a depiction of the American bald eagle. This symbolic design includes a front-facing bald eagle with the US national shield in front of it and is emblematic of the Executive Branch of the United States government.
