One of Perth Mint’s best-selling silver coins debuted in 2007. The Australian Silver Koala Coin was first issued in 2007 with only a 1 oz silver coin available in the series. Like its counterpart in the Silver Kookaburra Series, the new Silver Koala would go on to use the same design concept in changing the reverse visuals each year. Today, 2007 1 oz Australian Silver Koala Coins are available to you online at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
In 2007, Perth Mint debuted the Silver Koala with a 1 oz silver coin. The next year, the series expanded to include 1 Kilo, 10 oz, and 1/2 oz silver options. This continued through 2015, with the 2016 series shrinking to just 1 oz and 1 Kilo coins.
All of the 2007 1 oz Australian Silver Koala Coins available here come to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are housed in protective plastic flips and represent the first date in this now-beloved series. The mintage of 137,768 coins in 2007 is well below the top-five mintages in the series.
On the obverse of 2007 Australian Silver Koala Coins, you will find Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief in a 1998 design from Ian Rank-Broadley. This popular and long-running design was used for more than two decades and includes a depiction of the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.
The reverse side of the 2007 1 oz Silver Koala Coin features a depiction of the koala. This native marsupial species is shown in this year’s design as it clings to the branch of a eucalyptus tree. The detailed design features various textures and dimensions to create contrast throughout the field.
