For four years running, the mintage of the proof version of American Silver Eagles has increased. The 2005 iteration of the iconic series saw the mintage eclipse the 815,000 mark for the first time since 1987, the second year of issue. Now, you can add this 2005-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle to your collection, today.
Coin Highlights:
The obverse field of all 2005-W 1 oz Proof Silver Eagles depicts Walking Liberty. This Adolph A. Weinman design was created in 1916 for the nation’s half-dollar. This now iconic design features a sunset on the left side of the coin. Liberty is shown confidently walking toward it with oak branches in her left arm and the American flag over her shoulder.
2005-W Proof American Silver Eagles feature John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle on the reverse side. This iconic image shows the bald eagle with its wings spread wide and the national shield on its chest. This image is surrounded by identifying marks of the coin.
All 2005-W 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagles will come packaged within NGC protective plastic slabs. All coins in this listing are given a PF69 grade from the NGC along with a UCAM designation. UCAM coins are proofs that have strong, frosted design elements with deeply mirrored clear background fields. PF69 coins are in near-perfect condition as they feature full, original, mint luster and no more than two minor detractions.
Since its creation in 1986, the United States Mint has released three versions of American Silver Eagles including BU, proof, and burnished coins. Proof versions have been included every year except for 2009.
