Introduced in 1982, the Chinese Gold Panda Coin Series is one of the world’s longest-running bullion collections. When the Gold Panda made its debut, investors had just two other options: the South African Krugerrand or the Canadian Maple Leaf. Since 1982, the Chinese Gold Panda has grown in popularity. Right now, 2005 5 oz Proof Chinese Gold Panda Coins are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.

Each 2005 5 oz Proof Chinese Gold Panda Coin available here comes with individual, sealed packaging. The coins will arrive in protective capsules and are sealed inside plastic pouches. The Chinese Mint only issued 1,000 of these 5 oz gold coins for sale in 2005. Each one has mirrored background fields with a frosted design element.
The Chinese Mint has propelled the popularity of the Chinese Gold Panda over the course of several decades with the use of ever-changing designs. While the image of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests remains the same each year, the opposing image on the reverse of a Giant Panda has changed every year. There is only one exception to this approach. In 2002, the design from 2001 was repeated.
The obverse of the 2005 Proof Chinese Gold Panda Coin comes with a depiction of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This Taoist religious site is located in Beijing and was built between 1406 and 1420. The Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests is the central structure in the larger Temple of Heaven Complex.
On the reverse side of the 2005 5 oz Proof Gold Panda, you will find the image of a family unit of pandas. In this design, an adult Giant Panda is seated as it eats bamboo. A small cub is sitting nearby and looking for its own bite of the bamboo. The field has markings of the face value, weight, metal content, and purity.
