Each 2003 1 oz Australian Silver Lunar Goat in this listing comes to you with a protective plastic capsule. The silver coins in the Lunar Series I collection didn’t launch until 1999, while the gold coins debuted with the Year of the Mouse in 1996. That makes these silver coins the fifth issue of silver coins in Lunar Series I, while the Year of the Goat itself is the 10th in the 12-year cycle of the Lunar Calendar.
In the Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Goat is also known as the Year of the Sheep or Year of the Ram, as these animals are considered interchangeable in Chinese culture. The goat symbolizes peace, harmony, and tranquility in Chinese culture. People born in the Year of the Goat are believed to be kind-hearted, gentle, and compassionate.
The obverse of the 2003 Australian Silver Lunar Goat comes with an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is shown here in right-profile relief wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head. This effigy was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley and is the fourth-generation portrait of the Queen from her reign.
On the reverse side of 2023 1 oz Silver Lunar Goat Coins is a depiction of two goats. Here, a nanny is shown standing alertly beside its young kid. A hallmark of this series is the depiction of two creatures of the representative sign of the Zodiac on silver coins, while gold coins feature just one animal.
