The Royal Canadian Mint debuted the coins of the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Series in 1979. The first coins in a series that would eventually grow to include silver, platinum, and palladium variants, the Gold Maple Leaf is among the longest-running gold bullion coin programs in the modern era of private gold ownership. Today, 2001 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins are available from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Gold Maple Leafs debuted in 1979 with only a 1 oz gold coin available featuring .999 pure gold content. The Royal Canadian Mint would later introduce the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz Gold Maples in 1982, followed by the 1/2 oz Gold Maple in 1986 and the 1/20 oz Gold Maple in 1993. The most recent addition to the series is the 1 Gram coin, introduced in 2014.
All 2001 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins available here come with protective plastic flips. The 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf was one of the first fractional-ounce coins in the Maple Leaf Series and was introduced in November 1982. The coin was one of the first three weights, along with the 1 oz and 1/4 oz gold coins, to feature 24-karat gold in this series.
On the obverse of 2001 Canadian Gold Maple Leafs, you will find a right-profile effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This portrait was created in 1990 by Dora de Pedery-Hunt. It depicts the Queen with the George IV State Diadem and was the first Canadian currency portrait of Elizabeth II created by a Canadian artist.
The reverse side of the 2001 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coin comes with a depiction of the sugar maple leaf. This image was created in 1979 by Walter Ott and has featured on all weights of the Maple Leaf bullion series across gold, silver, platinum, and palladium variants.
