Given the 1/10 oz coin entered the decade of the 1990s with mintage figures hovering just below 100,000, the total of 49,971 coins to finish the decade was a bit of a disappointment. However, it did mark a steady increase in demand as the 1/10 oz coin was the only option in the series to increase starting in 1998 when the other coins were still in declining demand.
On the obverse of the 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coin is the image of Lady Liberty. This coveted design originally appeared on the $20 Gold Double Eagle Coin and was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
The reverse side of all 2000 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coins features the design of American bald eagles. This imagery includes the depiction of a male eagle in flight over the nest as a female guards the hatchlings within.
These 2000 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins have perfect PF70 certifications from the NGC. Coins in this condition maintain full, original mint luster with a complete lack of detracting flaws.
