The dawn of the 21st century saw change coming to the Proof American Silver Eagle Coin. Rather than a change of design, the change was simply a matter of which US Mint branch location struck the coins for numismatists. Coin Highlights:
When the Proof Silver Eagle debuted in 1986, it was the responsibility of the San Francisco Mint to strike the coins each year. This continued through 1992, with production shifting to Philadelphia in 1993. From 1993 to 2000, the Philadelphia Mint struck the Proof Silver Eagles. In 2001, the West Point Mint took over the primary production role.
All 2000-P 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins offered here come in perfect condition. PF70 coins have full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws. UCAM stands for ultra-cameo proof and refers to the presence of strong, frosted designs with deeply-mirrored, clear fields.
On the obverse of the 2000-P Proof American Silver Eagle is a depiction of Walking Liberty. Designed for the US half dollar in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, it shows the figure of Liberty in left-profile relief walking toward the sun on the horizon.
The reverse side of 2000-P 1 oz Proof Silver Eagles includes a modern version of the heraldic eagle. Designed in 1986 by John Mercanti, this visual shows the bald eagle in front-facing relief with the US national shield, the arrows of war, and the olive branch of peace.
