Each of the 2 oz Coccinella Magnifica Silver High Relief Rounds listed here are brand-new products from the Intaglio Mint. Struck in stunning high relief, these rounds are shipped in protective plastic and designed with collectors in mind. The mint’s Silver Bug Series as a whole is perfect for all those who love silver.
Intaglio Mint achieves the high-relief visuals of the Silver Bug Rounds by using a smaller 39mm round for the 2 oz product, rather than a larger 50mm round. The result is a silver piece that is as much art as it is precious metal.
Coccinella Magnifica is one of the many species of ladybird beetle, and often commonly referred to as the Lady Bug. The adults and larvae of the species are predators known to dine on aphids, soft-scale insects, spider mites, and even the eggs of other pests. For example, a single larva of the Lady Bug eats as many as 400 medium sized aphids while it develops.
On the obverse of the 2 oz Coccinella Magnifica Silver High Relief Round you’ll find the image of a Lady Bug. It is seemingly illuminated by the deep dome of the radial burst in the background, and its stippled border reads “All Hail the Silverbug” and “In Silver We Trust.” These are common engravings in the series.
The reverse of all Lady Bug Silver High Relief Rounds features the mint logo of Intaglio Mint. The Roman-style pillar in the center takes the shape of a letter “I” and features the mint’s founding year of 2010 at the base. This side also features a deep-domed radial burst and stippled edges, with engravings of the weight, purity, and metal content.
