One of the more unique American coin designs featured on the $10 Gold Eagle coin from 1907 to 1933. Known as the Indian Head design, this left-profile portrait of Liberty wearing a Native American headdress was distinct compared to other Native American designs and Liberty designs of the era. Today, 2 oz Indian Silver Rounds are available to you online from JM Bullion.
Round Highlights:
The designs featured on the 2 oz Indian Silver Round are reflective of the $10 Gold Eagle coin in circulation in the US from 1907 to 1933. Unlike the Gold Double Eagle, the Gold Eagle coin was issued regularly only from 1907 to 1916. World War I and falling interest in the $10 denomination pushed the coin into intermittent coining between the war’s end and the halt of US gold coins in 1933.
All of these 2 oz Indian Silver Rounds are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These silver rounds are available inside of protective packaging from the Intaglio Mint. A private minting operation with just a handful of dedicated craftsman, the Intaglio Mint produces a variety of intriguing collectible items.
On the obverse of the 2 oz Indian Silver Round is the left-profile portrait of Liberty. This design depicts Liberty wearing a feathered headdress similar to those of Native American tribal elders and leaders. The design includes 13 stars around her figure and was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
The reverse side of the Indian Silver Round includes Saint-Gaudens’ design for the $10 Gold Eagle. This image depicts an eagle at rest on a quiver full of arrows that is wrapped inside of an olive branch. The design originally created by Saint-Gaudens did not feature the phrase “In God We Trust,” but later issues of the coin and these silver rounds do bear the national motto.
$10 Gold Eagle Coins represented one of the longest-running coin programs in the US. These were the first gold coins issued by the United States Mint in 1795 and enjoyed immense popularity from the 1830s until the early 20th century.
