Copper rounds are an ideal alternative to other precious metal investments. For those looking to diversify beyond gold, silver, and platinum, copper offers an affordable option with some of the same beautiful designs you’ll find on other products. 2 oz Aztec Calendar Copper Rounds are now available to you for purchase online from JM Bullion.
Round Highlights:
The Aztec sun stone is a 24-ton basalt stone upon which the Aztecs carved their solar calendar. This intricate design is believed to have been carved onto the surface of the massive stone between 1501 and 1521, and was buried by the Aztecs as the Spanish conquistadors and enemy tribes invaded the city of Tenochtitlan.
For the next 269 years, the sun stone went undiscovered beneath the soil in modern-day Mexico City. The stone was discovered by workers completing repairs and renovations on the Mexico City Cathedral in December 1790. For the next century, the stone was affixed to the exterior facade of the cathedral before being removed for safekeeping. Today, it is housed in the National Anthropology Museum in Mexico City.
On the obverse of 2 oz Aztec Calendar Copper Round is the image of the sun stone. The stone’s intricate designs center on the effigy of the solar deity Tonatiuh and feature a series of four major design rings. These rings include symbols representing the solar deity of the Aztecs and those symbols which represent the days and months on the Aztec lunar calendar.
The reverse of 2 oz Aztec Calendar Copper Rounds features the portrait of Cuauhtemoc. The last emperor of the Aztec Empire, Cuauhtemoc is revered to this day by the people of Mexico and a bust of his likeness is featured in the main square in the center of Mexico City.
All of these 2 oz Aztec Calendar Copper Rounds are available to you today with individual protective plastic flips. If you’d like to purchase these copper rounds in multiples of 20 you’ll receive them inside of protective tubes.
