The popular return of the Egyptian Gods Series brings fans of Ancient Egypt and historians another new design to add to their collection. The next mythical deity to feature in the series is the female goddess known as Sekhmet. Right now, 2 oz Antique Sekhmet Silver Rounds are available to purchase online from JM Bullion.
Round Highlights:
Each of the 2 oz Antique Sekhmet Silver Rounds available in the Egyptian Gods Series comes with details that help transport you back to Ancient Egypt just through the look and feel of the round. The ultra-high-relief strike brings out enhanced 3D visual impact for the designs. The application of an antique polish gives the round a patina and age reminiscent of a coin or medallion struck thousands of years ago. Individual silver rounds ship in protective plastic flips, with multiples of 10 offered in plastic tubes.
The Egyptian Gods Series debuted several years ago with four designs initially offered before the program was suspended. With great anticipation, the Egyptian Gods Series returned in 2020 with an image of the god Osiris. The original designer in the series, Heidi Wastweet, is again providing the visuals for the collection.
On the obverse of 2 oz Antique Sekhmet Silver Rounds is a brilliant depiction of the Egyptian goddess in her human form. Sekhmet was a warrior goddess associated with the pharaohs of Egypt, and it was often her role to lead them in warfare. When depicted in human form, she has a female figure with the head of a lioness. This depiction captures Sekhmet with a sickle held in one hand behind her figure that has drops of blood coming from it, a symbol of her status as a warrior goddess. In the lower-left field, you will notice two sets of hieroglyphs. The bottom set is a representation of her name in hieroglyphs.
The reverse field of the 2 oz Antique Sekhmet Silver Round comes with the right-profile image of a cat seated on a sarcophagus. Sekhmet was not only a leader of the pharaoh and the armies of Egypt in battle, but a protector of the pharaohs in the afterlife. This image of her animal form seated on the sarcophagus of a departed leader captures her role as a protector.
