The predecessor series to the bullion America the Beautiful Collection, the State Quarters Series from the United States Mint offered a long-running change to the existing design of US Quarters by providing new images on the reverse of the coins. Coin Set Highlights:
The State Quarters Program established a release schedule that would later be mirrored by the ATB Silver Coins. State Quarters were issued with five designs per year starting in 1999. Unlike the later ATB Series, US State Quarter Program designs were issued in the order that each state was admitted into the Union.
Obverse designs on 1999 US Mint Proof Quarters include the 1932 portrait of President George Washington created by John Flanagan. The reverse of each coin in the Proof Set has a different design representing the state noted on the reverse.
These 1999 US Mint Proof Quarters Set come with a hard plastic case containing five individual 1999 US State Quarters. The designs in 1999 are the first in the series and honor the admission of, in order, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, and Connecticut.
