The Proof American Platinum Eagle Series is a unique collection among American bullion coins. Since its introduction in 1997, the Proof Platinum Eagle featured new reverse designs each year through 2017, and new obverse designs each year through 2025. The 1999 Proof Platinum Eagle Series was part of the Vistas of Liberty design subset. Today, 1999 Proof American Platinum Eagle 4-Coin Sets are available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
From 1998 to 2002, the United States Mint issued designs in the Proof Platinum Eagle Series known as the Vistas of Liberty. The collection focused on capturing the American bald eagle as it soared above varying landscapes from across the United States of America. In 1999, the design focused on the swamplands of the American Southeast.
All 1999 Proof American Platinum Eagle 4-Coin Sets come with individual capsules for each of the four coins. All four coins arrive together in a presentation box. The set includes 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz platinum coins, each with .9995 pure platinum and face values in US Dollars.
On the obverse of 1999 Proof American Platinum Eagles, you’ll find a portrait of Lady Liberty. The design shows the face of Liberty from the Statue of Liberty, and this image was created for the Platinum Eagle Series in 1997 by John Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the United States Mint.
The reverse side of the 1999 Proof Platinum Eagle Coins in this set captures the image of an American bald eagle. The eagle is shown soaring above swamplands that include an alligator in the waters below. Al Maletsky created this image for the US Mint, one of four designs he created between 1999 and 2003.
