The 1990s was one of the most interesting periods of time in the history of the American Silver Eagle. For both the BU and Proof Silver Eagle, the 1990s marked a period of low demand as strong economic markets around the world pushed more buyers away from safe haven metals. As the decade came to a close, however, the winds of change were swirling. Now, certified-perfect 1999-P 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins are available for purchase online at JM Bullion.

Throughout the 1990s, demand for BU Silver Eagles and Proof Silver Eagles was much lower than it had been in the 1980s or would be in the decades to come in the early 21st century. In fact, the lowest mintages ever recorded in the series came in the mid-1990s, with Proof Silver Eagles hitting a record low in 1994. By 1999, demand was on the rise. In fact, after the release of this coin, demand would rise steadily for years to come.
1999 Proof Silver Eagles are particularly notable as the penultimate release from the Philadelphia Mint with a P mint mark. From 1986 to 1992, San Francisco issued the coins. From 1993 to 2000, Philadelphia issued the coins. As of 2001, West Point has the primary responsibility for striking the coins.
In the obverse design of 1999-P 1 oz Proof Silver Eagles, you will find the image of Walking Liberty. This was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and first featured on the US half dollar until 1947.
For the reverse field of 1999-P Proof American Silver Eagles, the mint features John Mercanti’s modern version of the heraldic eagle. The national seal includes a front-facing bald eagle with the US national shield on its chest. The eagle’s talons clutch the arrows of war and olive branch of peace, with a triangular cluster of 13 stars overhead.
These 1999-P 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins have PF70 grades. Coins with this certification showcase full, original mint luster and no detractions. UCAM coins are ultra-cameo proofs with strong, frosted designs overlaying deeply-mirrored, clear fields.
