No coin from the 1997 issue of Proof American Gold Eagles experienced a drop in demand on the level of the 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle. All four coins in the series fell in 1997 for the second year in a row, but the 1/10 oz coin experienced the most significant drop. Today, 1997 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagles are available to you online from JM Bullion with perfect certifications.

The 1997 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle saw its demand fall the farthest among the four available weights. While the 1 oz coin fell just more than 5,000 coins, the 1/10 oz coin fell by nearly 23,000 coins from 57,047 in 1996 to just 34,977 for the 1997 issue. Fortunately for the 1/10 oz coins, mintage would rise the next year while the others continued to fall.
All of the 1997 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins in this product listing are available to you with an NGC certification. The coins available here have a perfect PF70 grade, which means the coins showcase full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws of any kind visible.
The included UCAM label indicates the coins are ultra-cameo specimens. A UCAM coin has impressive visual brilliance. The design elements have a strong, frosted matte finish and the background field is deeply-mirrored and clear.
On the obverse side of all 1997 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagles is the design of Liberty which Augustus Saint-Gaudens created in 1907. In the design, Liberty is a guiding force to lead the nation into the future as she walks holding a torch high in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. There is also a circle of 50 stars around her figure representing the states of the Union.
The reverse features the image of American bald eagles. Miley Busiek’s 1986 design for the Proof American Gold Eagles includes a female eagle in the nest guarding a hatchling under her wing as a male eagle is shown flying overhead.
