The reverse of the 1996 Proof Gold Eagle coins features the exclusive design from Miley Busiek. She created the design of a family of bald eagles specifically for the American Gold Eagle coinage. This design includes a female eagle sheltering a hatchling under her wing in the family nest as a male flies overhead.
