In 1995, the United States Mint celebrated the first decade of the American Gold Eagle. Introduced in 1986, the coin hit its tenth overall release in 1995 with demand for the Proof Gold Eagle relatively flat despite the anniversary date in the series. Today, 1995-W 1 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins are available at JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
Even though 1995 marked an anniversary date for the American Gold Eagle, demand for the Proof Gold Eagles was soft. Across the four weights, only the 1/2 oz Proof Gold Eagle saw an increase in demand in 1995 compared to 1994. For the 1 oz Proof Gold Eagle, mintage dropped by 306 coins from the 1994 issue of the coins.
All 1995-W 1 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins available here come with US Mint packaging. The coins are set within capsules and presented in a blue US Mint box that includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Proof coins have frosted designs with mirrored background fields.
On the obverse of 1995-W Proof American Gold Eagles, you will find Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ iconic Liberty image. Created for the $20 Gold Double Eagle in 1907, the image shows Liberty in front-facing relief walking toward the viewer with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.
The reverse side of the 1995-W 1 oz Proof Gold Eagle Coin comes with Miley Busiek’s depiction of a family of bald eagles. Created in 1986 exclusively for this series, it shows a male eagle soaring above a large nest that includes a female eagle and hatchlings.
