In 1995, the United States Mint celebrated the 10th anniversary of the American Eagle Collection. As part of that celebration, the US Mint issued a five-coin set that included the four Proof Gold Eagle weights alongside a unique Proof Silver Eagle, with the set helping bolster demand for Proof Gold Eagles. Today, 1995 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coins are available to you online from JM Bullion with NGC certifications!
Coin Highlights:
Included within the mintage of the Proof American Gold Eagle coins for 1995 are those coins which were contributed to a popular 10th Anniversary American Eagle Coin Set. This set included one of each of the standard Proof Gold Eagles, along with a special Proof Silver Eagle struck by the San Francisco Mint.
The 10th-anniversary set had a mintage of 30,102 coins. This figure is reflected in the overall mintage of 45,388 coins in the 1/2 oz Proof Gold Eagle release. The 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle was the only one of the four Gold Eagles to see its mintage figure increase compared to 1994, gaining 804 coins year over year.
All 1995 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagles available to you right now features a PF70 certification from the NGC. Considered a perfect specimen, these coins have full, original mint luster and lack any detracting flaws on the surface areas. The included UCAM label is reserved for proof coins with a combined clear background field and strong, frosted design elements.
The obverse side of 1995 Proof American Gold Eagles includes Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ iconic vision of Liberty. Designed in 1907, this image featured on the $20 Gold Double Eagle through 1933 when the US ceased coining gold coins for circulation.
On the reverse of the 1995 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle is a family of bald eagles. The female eagle guards a hatchling under her wing within the family nest as a male flies overhead. Miley Busiek created this imagery in 1986 exclusively for use on the American Gold Eagle collection.
