The year 1995 marked the first significant anniversary in the American Silver Eagle program, as the United States Mint celebrated 10 years of production for the nation’s official silver bullion coin. At this point in the coin’s history, mintage levels and demand were at all-time lows amid a booming economy in the United States. Right now, the 1995-P Proof American Silver Eagle is available in perfect condition from JM Bullion.

In 1995, the United States Mint had its fourth lowest mintage level in the history of the American Silver Eagle. The economy in the US was strong at the time, driving precious metal prices down and sinking demand along with it. There were only 5.1 million coins struck this year, with 4.6 million bullion versions and 438,511 proof American Silver Eagle coins.
There was an additional striking of the Proof American Silver Eagle in 1995. Produced by the West Point Mint, these coins featured a “W” mint mark and were limited to just 30,125 coins in total. These coins were, however, sold only as part of the 10th Anniversary American Eagle Five Coin Set.
Each of the 1995-P 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins in this set is a perfect specimen according to the PCGS. Coins with a PR70 grade exhibit full, original mint luster and have no detracting flaws of any kind on the surface.
Coins with a Deep-cameo, or DCAM, finish have contrasting design sets and background fields. The combination of a strong, frosted finish on the design and a deeply-mirrored, clear background field create the illusion of the design floating above the coin’s surface.
Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design graces the obverse of the 1995-P Proof American Silver Eagle Coin. Created in 1916 for the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, it is one of the nation’s finest.
John Mercanti developed the modern heraldic eagle on the reverse of 1995-P 1 oz Proof Silver Eagle Coins. This design is a modern take on the nation’s official seal, a design created in 1794 by Robert Scot, the 1st Chief Engraver of the United States Mint.
