The American Gold Eagle coin is the official gold bullion product of the United States of America. Struck annually by the US Mint, these gorgeous coins are made available in bullion, proof, and burnished versions for both investors and collectors to add to their portfolios. Proof versions were first introduced in 1986 with the 1 oz size before three other fractional weights were struck in 1988. Today, JM Bullion offers you the 1994-W 4-Coin Proof American Gold Eagle Set!
Coin Highlights:
When the Gold Bullion Act of 1985 was passed, the legislation demanded that there would be four weight sizes offered and two different types of coins minted. This resulted in the American Gold Eagle containing 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz in sizes. There were also two conditions minted, brilliant uncirculated, and proof (although the proof condition was only offered in 1 oz increments at first). The legislation also specified that the precious metals used, in the making of the American Gold Eagle, would come from US mines. The Proof American Gold Eagle is released annually and displays the same design. This epic box collection contains four of the fractional weights for the 1994 version of the collection.
On the obverse field of the 1994-W 4-Coin Proof American Gold Eagle Set, you will be pleased to find the image of Lady Liberty. This design was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907. The French-American engraver had been commissioned by President Roosevelt to create a new design for the collection and he formulated the iconic image of a woman in a flowing gown striding towards a bright future with a burning torch.
For the reverse of the 1994-W 4-Coin Proof American Gold Eagle Set, you will be pleased to find the design of a family of bald eagles. The female head of the family watches over her hatchlings while the father soars overhead in wonderous splendor.
