One of the oldest bullion coin programs comes not from a sovereign mint, but from England’s largest private mint. The Pobjoy Mint revived the Isle of Man Noble currency in 1983 with the release of a Platinum Noble bullion coin for investors. Although the Platinum Noble was halted in 1989, the design concept has since been revived in gold and silver. Today, 1994 1 oz Isle of Man Gold Noble Coins are available to you online at Silver.com in near-perfect condition.
Coin Highlights:
The Pobjoy Mint struck these 1994 Isle of Man Gold Nobles in honor of the debut of the historic English Noble gold coins from the reign of King Edward III in 1344. The 1994 release was the first-ever for the Isle of Man Gold Noble, reviving the denomination of the Manx Noble used for centuries by the Isle of Man. 1994 was not only the first release of the new Isle of Man Gold Noble bullion coin, but also the 650th anniversary of the first English Nobles.
All 1994 1 oz Isle of Man Gold Noble Coins available here come in near-perfect condition. Coins with a PF69 certification have full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. These detractions are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin. The included UCAM designation stands for ultra-cameo and indicates that each coin has strong, frosted design elements with deeply-mirrored, clear fields.
On the obverse of 1994 Isle of Man Gold Noble coins is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief in a design based on Raphael Maklouf’s 1985 effigy of the Queen for British coins. The design shows the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem.
The reverse side of the 1994 1 oz Gold Noble Coin features a Viking ship on the North Sea. The design is a twist on the historic English Noble, coins issued by the English crown that depict the monarch on one side with English sailing vessels on the other side. Here, the Viking ship is chosen in honor of the long heritage of Vikings on the Isle of Man. Though it is now a British Crown dependency, the Isle of Man was long-ruled by the Vikings.
