The focus of the Chinese Panda bullion coin program has been the beloved Giant Panda species. Giant pandas (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) are believed to have evolved from omnivorous bears that roamed the Earth about 2-3 million years ago. Their closest living relatives are other bears, such as spectacled bears and brown bears.
All 1993 1 oz Chinese Silver Panda Coins available here come sealed in plastic pouches. These particular 1993 Silver Panda Coins come with a small date mark. The 1993 stamp on the reverse has a different text compared to large date coins, with the small date 1993 1 oz Silver Panda issued by the Shenyang Mint.
On the obverse of 1993 Chinese Silver Pandas, you will find the image of a Giant Panda. This design is exclusive to the 1993 release and features a large panda seated on a rock ledge as small shafts of bamboo rise up in the foreground. The panda’s varying fur color is symbolized by different finishes on portions of its body.
The reverse side of the 1993 1 oz Silver Panda Coin comes with the static design found on all coins in the series. Here, you’ll find the image of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This design captures the image of the primary building in the Temple of Heaven Complex.
