The United States Mint first introduced Gold Eagles in 1986, but it wasn’t until 1988 that the coin was released in a 1/4 oz denomination from the Philadelphia location of the Mint. Therefore, this 1991 coin was also released from Philadelphia, which is indicated by the “P” mint mark included on the coin itself. This weight denomination was minted in this location until 1993, when production was transitioned to the West Point Mint.

She walks triumphantly toward the viewer, and sun rays extend out behind her in the distance.
