The first two additions were the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf. The mint would later add a 1/2 oz coin in 1986, a 1/20 oz coin in 1993, and a 1 Gram coin in 2014.
All 1991 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins offered here are packaged individually in protective plastic. The 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf had a final mintage of 322,000 coins in 1991. The coins featured the second-generation effigy of Elizabeth II to grace the obverse of Gold Maple Leafs.
On the obverse of 1991 Canadian Gold Maple Leafs is a right-profile effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed in 1990 by Dora de Pedery-Hunt, this image depicts Her Majesty at the age of 64, wearing the George IV State Diadem. Her Majesty’s bust includes simple yet elegant earrings and a necklace.
The reverse side of 1991 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coins comes with a depiction of the sugar maple leaf. Designed by Walter Ott, this image captures the national emblem of Canada and has been in use on the Gold Maple Leaf Series since 1979.
