Each of the 1988-S 1 oz Proof American Silver Eagle Coins available here comes in near-perfect condition. PF69 coins exhibit full, original mint luster and two minor detractions. Examples of these imperfections include minuscule contact marks or hairlines that must be located outside the primary focal points of the coin. UCAM coins are those with strong, frosted designs and deeply-mirrored, clear fields.
From 1986 to 1992, the San Francisco Mint issued the Proof Silver Eagle. Each Proof Silver Eagle it issued was produced with an S mint mark on the reverse field of the coin. After production moved from San Francisco, Proof Silver Eagles were struck at the Philadelphia Mint from 1993 to 2000 and at the West Point Mint as of 2001.
Walking Liberty is on the obverse of 1988-S Proof American Silver Eagle Coins. This design captures the full-length image of Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. Liberty is draped in the American flag.
In the reverse design of the 1988 1 oz Proof Silver Eagle Coin, the US Mint features the heraldic eagle. Modernized in 1986 by John Mercanti, the image shows a front-facing bald eagle with the US national shield on its chest, the arrows of war in one talon, and the olive branch of peace in the other talon.
