The image of Lady Liberty appears on the obverse of the 1988 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, it features Liberty walking with a torch in her right hand and a large olive branch in her left. On the reverse of the 1988 1/10 oz Proof Gold Eagle is Miley Busiek’s depiction of a family of nesting bald eagles.
