Today, JM Bullion offers you the 1988 4-Coin Proof American Gold Eagle Set!
Coin Highlights:
The Proof American Gold Eagle Set comprises four different weighted coins from the 1988 release of the Proof Gold franchise. They include the 1 oz, the 1/2 oz, the 1/4 oz, and the 1/10 oz coin! The 1 oz size will come with a W mint mark from the West Point while the other remaining three will come from the Philadelphia Mint! They will all be delivered in a gorgeous display box along with a Certificate of Authenticity that confirms its year of issue. All of the coins boast an impressive composition of 91.67% actual gold content, 5.33% copper, and 3% silver.
For the obverse field of the 1988 4-Coin Proof American Gold Eagle Set, all of the coins are engraved with the image of Lady Liberty. This design was crafted by Augustus Saint-Gaudens who had been commissioned by President Roosevelt to forge a new design for American gold coinage. He ended up coming up with the depiction of Liberty striding confidently forward into an unknown future with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The torch represents a beacon of hope and guidance while the olive branch is America’s offering of peace and friendship with others.
For the reverse field of the 1988 4-Coin Proof American Gold Eagle Set, all of the coins are engraved with the family of American bald eagles. They are featured in their nest while the female bald eagle keeps an eye on her young hatchlings. Overhead, her male counterpart guards all of them fiercely. This iconic depiction of American Eagles was forged in 1986 by Miley Busiek.
