When the American Silver Eagle debuted in 1986, the pent-up demand for silver resulted in strong initial sales for the Silver Eagles. However, demand ebbed and flowed in the early years. The 1987 release was the highest in the series between 1986 and 2007. The third issue in 1988 experienced a significant drop from the prior year as demand ebbed.
All of the 1988 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins offered here come in protective plastic slabs. These are Mint State 70 coins with full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws present on the design elements or fields of the coin.
On the obverse of 1988 American Silver Eagle Coins, you will find Adolph A. Weinman’s 1916 depiction of Lady Liberty. Known as Walking Liberty, this left-profile bust captures the full-length figure of Liberty walking toward the sun with the American flag around her shoulders and the branches of oak and laurel in her left hand.
The reverse side of the 1988 1 oz Silver Eagle features a modern image of the heraldic eagle. Designed by John Mercanti, this visual shows a front-facing bald eagle with the US national shield. Other elements include the arrows of war, the olive branch of peace, and a triangular cluster of 13 stars.

"While the coin seems to be in good shape, the PCGS plastic slab is cracked. The box it arrived in didn't appear to be damaged so I would have to assume it came from JM bullion this way. Nothing in the description mentioned any damage. Will definitely order certified coins elsewhere."
