All 1988 1/20 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coins come inside sealed plastic pouches. The coins in this series debuted in 1982, with the 1/20 oz coin introduced in 1983. From 1983 to 2000, these coins were issued with this face value of 5 Yuan, but that was later increased to 20 Yuan in 2001. From 1983 to 2015, these coins were available in this 1/20 oz gold weight, with the weight changed 1 Gram in 2016.
On the obverse of the 1988 Chinese Gold Panda Coins, you’ll find an image of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, a structure central to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, a renowned Taoist site.
The reverse of the 1988 1/20 oz Gold Panda Coin presents a Giant Panda seated on its backside. The panda is shown reaching out for a bite of bamboo with its paw. The design includes contrasting finishes to highlight the panda’s black and white fur, adding depth and clarity to the charming image.
