The obverse of the 1986 1/10 oz Chinese Panda Coin features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This design has been present on the obverse side since the inception of the coin program. In Chinese, the inscription reading “The People’s Republic of China” is seen at the top.
The reverse of the 1986 1/10 oz Gold Panda Coin showcases a panda. The panda is seen walking through bamboo in front-facing relief. Identifying marks of the coin frames the design.
The Chinese Gold Panda Series debuted in 1982, releasing coins in 4 unique sizes ranging from 1 oz to 1/10 oz. A 1/20 oz size was added the following year, followed by larger sizes later on.
